Daisy Bowl 2017 Coming Soon!

Hello everyone! It's that time of year again, and we're gearing up for this year's Daisy Bowl Powder Puff Football game to have fun, get outdoors, and raise money for The Get In Touch Foundation! This year it will be held on Sunday, February 5th at 10am. Milford location TBA!

Although the game itself is 'Ladies Only," (except for our great referees Sam Bergami, Bobby Hume and Sam IV,) fellas are encouraged to join in on the fundraising, cheerleading, and general spirit of fun. Maybe this year I'll remember to bring the pom poms!

So ladies, please respond and let us know if you will be playing, cheerleading, or will just be there in spirit. There is a $30 cash donation, due to me or Cathy Lang by or on the morning of the game requested from players to cover costs, and we encourage you to set up a fundraising page on our event's site at Crowdrise. https://www.crowdrise.com/daisybowlmilfordct/ If you set up a page last year, it is still active.

We had such a blast last year and the year before- this one will be even better! Email me at shaileenh@gmail.com or call me at 203-258-0841 if you'd like an invitation to our event or info on how to create your own game.

For our event, there is no required uniform, however if you want to order a jersey, click here and order by the morning of Saturday, Jan 21st.   http://bit.ly/2k7SGVG

What is The Daisy Bowl?

The Daisy Bowl is a grass-roots fundraising Powder Puff football game to support the Get in Touch Foundation, a Milford, CT based non-profit that is committed to providing Breast Health education to gals (and guys!) around the globe.

The first Daisy Bowl was held in February 2015, with events at multiple sites around the country.  Each is organized and played by people in the local community, and although the games raise donations for Get in Touch, they are not directly sponsored by the organization.  That's not to say that the people at the Foundation don't celebrate the games and cheer on the players, however far away!   With social media, each team is recognized and encouraged, and everyone feels very connected.

Here in Milford, a group of us ladies joined together on that chilly Sunday morning (the morning of the day of that other big football game...) and played our little hearts out!  The snow on the ground did not even remotely diminish the fun of the day.  Our families and friends also braved the cold and the snow to come support us, and we were so happy to see Get in Touch Founder Mary Ann Wasil, her daughter Betsy, and even Mayor Ben Blake cheering us on as well!

This year, the Milford Daisy Bowl will be held at The Academy field on February 7th at 10am.  We have many returning players, as well as several newbies to the event.  We'll be tossing that pigskin, rain or shine, and will be raising funds in the meantime.  There will be raffles and a "pass the hat" at the game, along with pom poms for the guys, (come on, guys, shake those things!) and an atmosphere of "fun, philanthropy, and football."

If you are interested in learning more about the Daisy Bowl, please email me at shaileenh@gmail.com.  Otherwise, please consider donating at our Crowdrise page www.crowdrise.com/daisybowlmilfordct/fundraiser  or come on down to the game to cheer us on.
